Recent years have seen fluctuating domain name prices, driven by major industry players after ICANN removed price controls on popular top-level domains like .COM and .ORG.
The registry operator for .COM domains, Verisign, has led the way in domain pricing adjustments by rolling out yearly price hikes for .COM registrations during the last four years.
This pattern continues today, as multiple registry operators managing various new TLDs adopt regular annual price modifications.
Due to shifting market conditions, we have had to reassess our wholesale pricing structure for the affected TLDs.
In our dedication to maintaining excellent service standards while keeping prices competitive, we’ve made minimal yet necessary price modifications.
What is the new price update about?
The new TLD pricing will become effective on November 20th, 2024 for members of both the Free Reseller Program and the cPanel Reseller Platform.
You can find a full list of the TLDs that will be impacted by the upcoming price update on our website:
Updated TLD pricing – November 2024
The pricing page shows updated .COM domain rates, covering standard registrations and special plan-based offers (exclusively for Free Reseller Program members).
Two separate tables below detail the new pricing structure for specific country-code TLDs and new TLDs.
These new rates will be implemented for all domains, including those previously registered under promotional pricing.
The updated price rates for selected country-code TLDs and new TLDs are presented in two additional tables below.
The revised rates will also apply to any domain names that have been registered at a promotional price.
What is the process for updating prices in our Free Reseller Program?
The first step will be to modify the wholesale pricing, followed by updating retail prices, all while maintaining the pre-defined profit margin for a particular top-level domain (TLD),
Domain holders who already have a domain name on any of the affected TLDs will see the new prices upon renewal.
Customers with recurring contracts will get the update within days of implementing the price modifications. For the majority of domain registrations, the contracts will automatically adjust to reflect the new rates at the next scheduled payment.
For TLDs with substantial price increases, existing recurring contracts will be terminated. Customers will have the option to create new agreements at the revised rates after cancellation.
We will inform customers with recurring contracts about the changes through our ticketing system.
What impact will cPanel Reseller Program members see from pricing changes?
Once we have updated the prices on our system, we will make changes to all invoices that include any of the affected top-level domains (TLDs), regardless of whether the domains are currently active or expired.
Resellers who have domains on an impacted TLD listed in their invoices will see the adjusted prices within the next 7 days.
An email will be sent to all resellers to provide an explanation of these changes.
