Upcoming domain price increase for .ORG and a few other domain extensions

We’d like to inform you about an upcoming price increase affecting one of the most widely used top-level domain names on the internet – .ORG.
The change comes as a result of the registry operator behind the extension, PIR (Public Interest Registry), increasing its wholesale pricing.
Starting June 1, 2026, the price of .ORG domains will increase by approximately 12%.
At the same time, we will also update the pricing of several other domain extensions in order to better reflect current registry rates and market conditions.
What is changing?
- The new TLD pricing will take effect on June 1, 2026;
- The update applies to members of both the Free Reseller Program and the cPanel Reseller Platform;
- A full list of affected TLDs, including standard registrations, renewals, and transfers, is available here:

- These rates will apply to all domain registrations, including those that were previously purchased under special offers or promotions.
How will the Free Reseller Program be updated?
- Wholesale domain prices will be updated;
- Retail prices will adjust automatically to keep existing profit margins;
- Renewals for affected TLDs will use the new pricing;
- Customers on recurring billing will be charged the updated rates at their next renewal;
- In some cases, existing recurring contracts may be canceled and recreated under the new pricing;
- All affected customers will be notified through the ticketing system.
What does this mean for cPanel Reseller Program members?
Once the new pricing is applied in our system, invoices containing affected TLDs will be updated within 7 days. This includes active, expired, and pending-renewal domains.
All cPanel resellers will also receive an email with more details and any required actions.
How to prepare for the update
To secure the current lower pricing for another year, we recommend registering or renewing affected domains before the new rates take effect.

.ORG price update – history
Compared to many newer domain extensions, this increase is fairly moderate.
The wholesale price of .ORG had remained unchanged since 2016, while many newer TLDs raise prices almost every year.
Still, .ORG has a long history tied to non-profits, open-source projects, communities, and public-interest organizations, which is why price increases around the extension often attract stronger reactions.
Another important moment came in 2019, when ICANN removed price caps from the .ORG registry agreement.
Although PIR did not immediately raise prices aggressively, the current increase shows that the registry is now starting to use that pricing flexibility.
Why do domain registration prices keep rising?
Registries usually explain price increases with the growing costs of infrastructure, security, DNS operations, staffing, compliance, and global support systems.
While domain names may seem like simple records, running a global TLD requires large-scale infrastructure and continuous support.
Still, many users question why prices keep rising in an already profitable industry.
Once major registries start increasing prices, others often follow – especially as higher pricing becomes the industry standard.
